Vocabulary: What time is it????

Telling the time in English.

• O´clock 12:00= twelve o´clock,    09:00= nine o´clock am ,  11:00  = eleven o´clock am
• Attention: 13:00 = one o´clock pm, 18.00= six o´clock pm, 22:00= ten o´clock pm
• We don´t say the numbers : 13,14,15,16,17,18,19,20,21,22,23 for the time/ hour in English. Instead we say                        1,2, 3, 4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,
• For example 15:00 is not fifteen o´clock BUT three o´clock pm,
• 22:00 = ten o´clock NOT twenty two o´clock, 13:00 is not thirteen o´clock but instead one o´clock

Attention: We say the minutes first and then the hour: 12:25 = twenty five past twelve

12:25 = twenty five(minutes) past 12(hour)

• Past: 05:10 = ten past five, 16:05= five past four, 21:20= twenty past nine
• Quarter past: 04:15 quarter past four,  22:00= quarter past ten, 13:15 quarter past one
• Half past: 12:30 half past twelve, 17:30= half past five, 08:30= half past eight
• To:  07:55 = five to eight(in 5 minutes it will be eight,  09:40 = twenty to nine(in twenty minutes it will be ten)
• Quarter to: 05:45 = quarter to six (in 15 minutes it will be 06:00), 21:40= quarter to ten(in 20 minutes it will be ten) 10:35 = twenty five to eleven(in twenty five minutes it will be 11:00)
